Vocabulary Workshop, Level B, Sadlier-Oxford
In Literature, students will read a gamut of grade appropriate material, including short stories and novels in a variety of genres, as well as a selection of non-fiction texts. As much as possible, content is connected to topics covered in other subject areas. The use of reading strategies and critical reading skills is emphasized. Major projects include novel studies, short stories, poetry, and Shakespeare.
English:

In English class, students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will hone their writing skills through the writing process, and produce narrative, persuasive, and expository writing. Grammar skills will be incorporated into the writing curriculum throughout the year. essays, narrative projects, and research reports, designed to build students' writing skills are implemented.
Pre-algebra (7– accelerated):
Text: Middle School Mathematics: Concepts and Skills, McDougal Littell
Social Studies::
Medieval and Early Modern Times in the “World History” series by McDougal Littell is the text. Students learn about life in Ancient Rome, the growth of Islam, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asian Societies, Medieval Societies, Europe and the Civilizations of the Americas. Students will work in collaborative groups, and work on special projects as well as individual projects.
In Social Studies class, comprehension is stressed. Finding the main idea, taking notes, and analyzing data stretch across the curriculum to give the students better study skills in all areas of study. Projects will be assigned in addition to regular classroom homework. These projects range from internet searches, powerpoint presentations to poster board projects, research reports, oral presentations, and /or mask-making.
